Putney is currently in its best position since its founding in 1935, with strong leadership, operating surpluses, a growing endowment and an enviable reputation. Over the last century, nobody could have anticipated the environmental, education and sociological changes our society now faces, but in a sense, Putney has always been preparing for what’s next. Like all independent schools, Putney depends on the generosity and support of its community. This presents an opportunity for the Putney community to come together in celebration of the past, present, and future.

Join us as we Sing it Forward and strive to raise $35 million in Putney’s largest comprehensive campaign to date

An Aspirational Future

______

Student and Faculty Housing

Dorms are fundamental to the life and character of a boarding school. Architecture and amenities influence both individual and communal behavior.

______

Black Box Theater

The Putney School is a place where artistic expression is encouraged, supported and recognized as having the potential to create transformative opportunities for growth. The arts are intrinsically woven into the Putney experience and are one of the reasons students choose Putney. Theater has the capacity to build empathy, giving voice to diverse stories. Inherent in each ensemble it builds, theater strengthens community. In short: theater matters.

______

Student and Faculty Support

The Putney School is a unique place, and a destination for curious and creative minds. As a leader in progressive education, our community strives to embody our fundamental beliefs and values. For those who find their way to Putney and find a sense of belonging on the land and in the community, we need to ensure access. As with all things, this takes effort.

______

Annual Fund

The Annual Fund forms the cornerstone of Putney’s fundraising effort. It has grown and thrived in the last decade, and its success is tied to the campaign’s success. The Annual Fund goal for FY24 (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024) is $1.2 million. The $9.4 million listed below is a five year goal.

Pennsylvania

With the dorms pretty much unchanged since Judy’s stay in the ‘50s we fervently support efforts to renew the dorms with 21st century thoughtfulness for students and faculty, including faculty families who provide important texture and continuity.

Geoff and I gave a gift to the Capital Campaign and earmarked it to begin a dorm in Hepper’s name. Hepper meant a lot to each of us.

Putney’s pedagogy encouraged me to be cognizant of my knowledge and contradictions and actively work to liberate myself — to free my mind to imagine a world according to me; a world representative of my identities.

The day one of my children landed on the Putney campus as a student, I knew they had found a new home among soul mates.
